The Story Behind our ‘Oven for Govan’ Appeal
At the Preshal Trust we use the cooking of food as a way of drawing the community together. It is not just that we prepare delicious meals for our breakfast and lunch clubs each day, but we work with our clients to assist them in cooking healthy and cost-effective dishes to help to foster independence. This maybe done on a one-to-one basis or in the form of cooking sessions, run each week by our resident chef Tony.
Quite rightly our clients our proud of the food they prepare and it brings many smiles, laughs and helps to foster a spirit of community and friendship. Our oven in Govan services both the community centre in Linthouse and our newly opened centre in Paisley.
With this in mind you can imagine how desperate we were when in September our beloved oven decided to retire itself and stopped functioning. The Preshal Trust had to replace the oven since cooking is such a big part of what we do; we dug deep into our reserves and bought a new oven at the cost of £10,000.
We need to replace those funds; this appeal aims to raise £10,000 in 5 months through community involvement and support.
Could you run a local event such as a coffee morning or home bake sale for our benefit?
At the Preshal Trust, cooking is at the heart of our community. We not only prepare delicious meals for our breakfast and lunch clubs each day, but also help our clients learn to cook healthy, cost-effective dishes that foster independence.
Cooking together is about more than just food—it’s about sharing, learning, and building friendships. There’s a real sense of pride whenever someone serves up their first homemade soup or tries a new recipe. Our kitchen is always full of laughter and smiles, and it’s amazing to see how these moments bring everyone closer together.
Our oven in Govan supports both the Linthouse centre and our new centre in Paisley. When our old oven broke down in September, we knew how essential it was to replace it. Cooking is a big part of what we do, so we used our reserves to buy a new oven for £10,000.
Now, we need your help to restore those funds. Our goal is to raise £10,000 in the next five months through community support.
Your support can make a real difference—organise a coffee morning, home bake sale, or any local event to help us reach our target. Every contribution brings us closer to continuing our vital work and keeping our kitchen full of life, learning, and laughter. Thank you for standing with us and making our community stronger.
